What Is Color Temperature?

Color temperature is the visual tone of white light. Some white lights have a soft, yellow appearance, while others look clean, neutral, or slightly blue. The tone is measured in Kelvin.

Warm, Neutral, and Cool Light

Warm light creates a relaxed appearance and is commonly associated with bedrooms and evening lighting. Neutral white looks more balanced, without a strong yellow or blue cast. Cool white produces a crisp appearance that can make details stand out.

These descriptions refer to the color of the light—not its physical temperature.

How Does Color Temperature Affect a Mirror?

The same face or makeup can look different under warm and cool lighting. Warm light may soften the overall appearance, while cooler light can make contrast and small details more noticeable.

Switching between color temperatures can help you see how your appearance may look in different indoor and outdoor environments.
